Rugs from a Donna Hrkman Class ~

Donna Hrkman taught two three day classes before the Buckeye Hook In.  I have heard she is an amazing teacher.  During the hook in, there was a throw down of rugs that were being worked on in class.  I hope I am sharing all the rugs that were displayed.  My computer is NOT playing nice, and I have been fighting with my iPhone and desktop computer for the last hour.

Odds and ends ~

This Statue of Liberty is going to be amazing.  The rug is about 5' tall.

  2. Nancy stole my first word idea, lol. They were all incredible but the one which took my breath away was Lady Liberty!!!! I checked out all Donna's patterns at Cape May and told her the drawings of the patterns were so wonderful it was a shame to hook them, for they could easily be framed and hung as art themselves.

  4. These rugs are FANTASTICAL!!!! I can't even imagine hooking anything like that in a million lifetimes. Amazing how those classic Santas all look completely different even though they're the same pattern. All are works of art but the first one just draws me in for some reason. And that one hooked from the photo of a family (?) with the big snowman...Wow! I had to enlarge it to see that those faces were truly hooked. It almost looked like they had cut out the faces from the photos. Just amazed... TFS. ~Robin~

  6. There were some nice rugs being worked on or completed at the class.

Question from your non-hooking reader - is it my imagination, or are human eyes harder to do well in rug hooking than animal eyes? Or is it in our genetic code to look at human eyes more closely/critically than animal eyes, even in art? I mean no disrespect to the people in the class...some of those Santa eyes look a bit...off, compared to the animal eyes. I've noticed this in other rug throwdowns you've shown in the past. I know in drawing and painting classes from my high school art class days, eyes (faces in general) and hands are *hard* to get right.

I hope you get your computer/phone woes figured out soon.
