Saying Bad Words~

I normally start Christmas decorating after Thanksgiving, but this year since my Las Vegas son was not home (boo-hoo 😢) and my niece and family did not come from Chicago, I decided to get an early start.  I was so happy to have my 6' tinsel tree with all vintage glass ornaments done, even though I broke two old ornaments in the process.

I was happy until last night at bedtime.  This is what the tree looked like 😡

Pre-lit trees are wonderful until they are not.  I have never replaced a fuse on a light strand and I am guessing that would be too easy a solution.  I hate the thought of undecorating half the tree to add a string of lights.  (Before I posted this, DSO came over to see what he might be able to do.  He had even watched some You Tube videos.  After replacing several burned out bulbs and the fuses, NOTHING!  I will be undecorating tomorrow and adding a string of lights.)  Did I mention I might have said a few bad words?

Today is Charles M. Schulz's (aka Sparky) 100th birthday.  It was so cool because most of the comic strip panels in today's newspaper paid tribute to Charles, Snoopy and the Peanuts gang.  We visited the Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, CA, in 2017.

A sampling of tributes to Sparky.  I hope you can enlarge them to be able to read.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs 😊

  1. Wow, Charles Shultz is 100? Sheesh, his humor was young and kept us/me young. Hmm, thought provoking for sure.
I'm confident you will get that tree glowing once again. Have a glass of wine and chill.

  2. I love those tributes to Charles M. Shultz. I can't believe he would be 100!! Our tree did that this year, but we added and added lights. It was so bright this morning I had to turn it off. I am not decorating it until Thursday though, weird right, December 1st. We did get out lights up on the house yesterday. I am so sorry your son didn't get to come home this year.
Also your niece and her family.
I am looking forward to your decorating though. I love your house and all of the very cool treasures you put out.

  3. I hate prelit trees just for that reason. I do scramble words and it was a Charlie Brown one.
Sorry your family didn't make it home for Thanksgiving.

  4. I've had the lights fail on the regular tree after I got the whole thing set up and decorated, despite pre-testing and shaking the strings beforehand. Yes, foul language time indeed! Especially when they decide to fail a couple of weeks later.

I saw many cartoonists' strips had a salute to Mr Schulz yesterday - very cool.

  5. Sorry about the lights on your tree...I would have some very choice words too ! I just bought new lights for our very first Fake Cmas tree ....we purchased it without lights. I bought warm white lights , and they are so bright !!! Guess that is how the LED lights look ???? Love the Fake Tree , it really is pretty & straight & full , but I'm not looking forward to putting it away !!! You probably won't want to hear me talk that day !!!
Charles Schlutz was very talented ...Love Charlie Brown & gang !
Hope your family can be with you for Cmas .....

  7. Well that's a kick in the tinsel. Good luck with stringing the new. Maybe it won't be so bad if you just follow the old one as it's removed. We bought one of those devices that tells us where the bad bulb is. I can't find it. It did work on several strings, not all, but I can't find it. I'm not doing much this year but I have my first pre-lit from last year's sale. If it doesn't light everywhere, too bad, because I can't find it.
