When I first started hooking, I hooked totally alone and it was in the very early stages of me being online. I drew all my own patterns and they were very small. Here area few of my early pieces.
These next mats, I am just not able to get a good color. The greens just aren't showing up properly no matter what light I put them in.
Jack's Crow, a pattern by Winter Cottage Studio. Probably my favorite Halloween rug.
Pattern by Spruce Ridge Studios.
Fun pumpkin rug from a class at the 2011 ATHA Biennial (in Lancaster, PA) with Maria Barton of Star Rug company.
A free pattern given to students in a class I took a number of years ago. I made it in to a pocket . . . and forgot to add some flowers.
Purchased on eBay many years ago, I think I show this every year. I absolutely LOVE it 💖
Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs 😊

Your early designed and hooked pieces look better than mine. And think they were smaller, a single star and yeah a crow too which I made into a bag. But we kept at it and got better and more confident. The trip was worth it wasn't it?
ReplyDeleteYour little designs stood the test of time because they look lovely in your Halloween decor. I love that big moon and the witch as a fireplace screen. I hook alone most of the time except this evening I was with my Evening Matters hooking group.
ReplyDeleteHappy hooking.
Hugs,
Julia
I love your designs and your Halloween decorations are just wonderful!

You had me at Halloween. Wow...you were doing your own patterns early on in your hooking journey...not me....and I'm really afraid of looking at my early pieces. I still haven't finished binding my Jack's Crow but working on it...had an issue with a sewing machine. And you know I love, love, love that skellie rug. Every time I see it, I go on another fruitless hunt for the designer... Last year I must have contacted 6 different designers...one would suggest someone else who would suggest someone else...and still no success. ~Robin~
ReplyDeleteYou’ve made my day so Autumnal! Fabulous pieces Thank you!!! All I need is hot cider and my hook.
ReplyDeleteYour designs may have been small, but they still look good. Classic I think is the term. Awesome that you had the confidence to draw your own designs as a beginner.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I notice in the quilting world is people asking for patterns for simple things. I'm not sure if it's lack of confidence in their abilities, laziness, or attempting to honor copyright on published patterns. I can totally get behind asking for the reason of trying to support designers by buying their patterns. Otherwise, a small table mat of flying geese is the perfect project to start honing your own design skills, IMHO.
I'm always happy to see Jack's Crow and that flying skeleton rug. Actually I enjoy seeing all your Halloween decorations, even if you did post them prior years.
Jack's Crow is just too sweet. I like your fun pumpkin and the pouch too. Your early patterns are great kiddo. I'm wondering what pulled you into hooking.
ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful selection of rugs and decor. The rugs look fine to me on my screen and colors that don't, I know what they really look like, I have the same problem with trying to photograph rugs.

I always love, love, love seeing your rugs and I love seeing your early work. Haha I am still hooking alone. I do like that Jack's crow and I love that bottom rug too. I think everything looks wonderful in the fall. I think it would just be so nice to come and look at all of the treasures you have found, not to mention all of the great rugs. I have my perfect pumpkin you do with hand torn strips and my sunflower you sent me. I enjoy them so much. I get so many compliments on them.
