International Rug Hooking Day ~

December 4 has been proclaimed International Rug Hooking Day.  Honoring the anniversary of TIGHR - The International Guild of Handhooking Rugmakers' formation in 1994, the focus is to spread friendship exploring the different rugmaking techniques used worldwide.

I have only pulled a few loops in weeks, it seems.  Ole Jack has been set aside (and I am so nearing a finish) to work on Santa & Reindeer, a pattern by Doodle Dog Primitives that can be found here.  I always prefer to purchase a PDF pattern if available and transfer it to linen myself.  To me it is worth the cost savings.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs 😊

  1. Well, Happy International Rug Hooking Day then... I did not know there was such a thing. I guess in honor of it I best, at least, pull a few loops tonight. What the heck...I have a whole night ahead of me and then some...maybe I will make it more than a few. 3-6" of white s*#t on the way, so I might even misbehave and hook a bit during the day tomorrow. Then again, knowing me, maybe not...on both accounts. Your little Santa and Reindeer is going to be all kinds of cute. I am horrible about transferring patterns LOL... I used to help Cathy once in a while do her patterns when she was prepping for shows, etc. and that was fine...but to print out the pattern, then get a piece of linen the right size...and serge it (or, in my case, zigzag it as I don't own a serger)...and, heaven forbid, resize it???? nah... I'd rather pay a few extra $. Then again, a single pattern lasts me a long...loooonnng....time. ;-) ~Robin~

  2. Love those PDF patterns too. And the seller has to love the ease of the earnings. Cute pattern!

  5. I sat down at my frame for the first time in days. I had such shoulder pain after hooking the last time not sure that was all about but hope it never comes back.
    love your little rug

  6. You find such sweet patterns. Small, simple and doable. I need to keep that in mind when choosing.

  7. Yes, and I thought I would be hooking all day in way of celebration, but did I? No, not even one loop. I am finished Christmas shopping so that is a good excuse. I hope to hook lots this week.
I love that pattern! I will be getting that one. So cute.
    I hope all is well.
    Have a happy day!

  8. How did I miss this blog post of yours? I must have read it then thought I'd commented. But looking at it again I see that I didn't. It's a cute Santa and agree that pdf patterns are better as I'd prefer to draw my own also. But I don't know how to make the pdf patterns as I'm still rather tech ignorant.
