Mental Block ~

I just don't get it.  I will come up with any excuse to NOT work on Ole Jack.  I have barely hooked on it in days.  I did hook a bit last night, but just a very little bit.  Is is because I am hooking outside my comfort zone?  That is about the only thing I can come up with.  Here is the area I worked on last night.

And here is my progress so far.  Rather pathetic 😟  (If you think I am doing great, remember I have been home from camp for a month!)  Jack's colors are a little more subtle in person.

I like it, so why, why, why am I not working on it on a regular basis?  Hopefully I can get my rear in gear and get some more done.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs 😊

  1. Love the colors you are hooking with & it looks great !!!! Maybe you are enjoying some nice weather too & just want to be outside ? Think that's a good excuse ???? :-)

  2. I can't answer your question, but your horse looks great and I love the colors you chose. I know it's hard to get motivated sometimes. Maybe you've been burning the candle at both ends and just need a little break from hooking.

I remember you were constantly busy and on the go. Stop feeling guilty and thinking that you must always be productive. Dig out all the rugs you've finished and feast your eyes on them. You've done so many.

I've slacked down on everything, and what gets done gets done and the rest is just not that important anyway.

    Take care, hugs.

  3. I do think you are right it is out of your comfort zone. I know the rug I am working on I am excited about but it overwhelms me at time. But it is so good to stretch our hooks.

  4. It is looking dang awesome to me...and, while not to your standard, like you've made a great deal of progress. But, to the extent you feel you are dawdling or procrastinating I am sure it is likely, as you say, that you are out of your comfort zone. That is a large part of why my Welcome Cats rug got scrapped. I slowed and slowed until there was nothing. Just trust me on this one though: It WON'T get easier by putting it aside and working on something else. If you're not "comfortable" now, it will be worse when you do pick it up again. I am speaking from experience (if you haven't figured that out). ~Robin~ (Your assignment for tonight: At least hook enough to take care of that one strip of wool hanging about on Jack's head....You're embarrassing him by making him look like a unicorn. ;-) )

  5. You’ve had a lot of the irons in the fire, it’s out of your comfort zone and you just needed a break. That’s my vote anyway.

A simple trick is to choose an area on the rug and spend 15 minutes on it...set a kitchen timer. Get up and walk away. Should you feel the need to progress on more, sit back down. If not...then you have given it 15 minutes and the next day the same routine. Mark off the area...say about 6 or 8 inches at a time or just one motif or hook the border row to keep it straight. In other words...just a daily limited Tim and you will see progress. Also...whats the rush?

  7. I def have rugs I start and then have a hard time continuing. Who knows ? It reminds me of that old children’s poem: “ I do not like thee Doctor Fell, the reason why? I cannot tell. But this I know and know full well: I do not like thee Doctor Fell

  8. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS. YOU WILL COME AROUND; THE MOOD JUST HAS NOT STRUCK YOU. PUT IT AWAY FOR AWHILE!

  9. Well I finally hooked a bit myself and made 5 mittens to sell for the store. Not much, but it felt good to get into the wool. Note to self though...dont cut wool wearing black jeans. LOL Now spending nights at the store getting ready for Christmas. Up late because I cannot sleep wondering when I will get it all done. Your rug looks great as usual. Janice
