(Ripley's) Believe It or Not ~

Passing through Pigeon Forge on the way to Gatlinburg, we saw the Titanic attraction and then I saw this and it just made me chuckle!

Now Pigeon Forge is an absolute zoo.  Tourist attraction after tourist attraction.  Horrendous traffic.  I pity the people who live there.  Getting from point A to point B must be a daily nightmare.  I thought Gatlinburg was going to be the same, but it was a little more subdued.

The Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies has been voted the best U.S. aquarium and I must say it was pretty awesome.

Jellyfish totally mesmerize me.  I could watch them for hours.

I believe these were the lionfish.

There are some very strange . . . and ugly . . . creatures in the ocean.

My iPhone and PC are not playing nice today so I will share a bit more in my next post.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs 😊

  1. Well, here's another (Ripley's) Believe It or Not: Guess what I am currently stitching???? Yup, a jellyfish....and it happens to be part of a larger piece called Oceanarium LOL. Ya can't make this stuff up I tell ya. I have always been fascinated with oceans/seas and the creatures that inhabit it. And I admit I have a wee bit of a Titanic obsession....I can't tell you how many books I've read about it or how many times I've watched all the versions of the movies on it, etc. I did manage to go through the exhibit in Vegas several years back. I was fascinated...It was so cool to touch the piece of the hull that they had pulled up and had on display (shhhh....I KNOW no one was supposed to touch it). I always wanted to own an artifact from it. Oh well.... I've never been to Pigeon Forge or Gatlinberg....I don't get out much. Looking forward to some more pics! (I live vicariously). ~et~ (LOL on the Titanic/pug meme...good one.)

  2. jellyfish might look colorful and graceful but some can wallop one hell of a sting. I can remember days at the beach when the Man o War jellyfish would come in. everyone got out of the water.

  3. Interesting. I don’t guess I knew they had an aquarium. Atlanta is supposed to have a decent one as well, but I have never wanted to go badly enough to fight the Atlanta crowds. The Titanic exhibit sounds interesting.

  5. You are brave to go where the traffic is so heavy. I despise busy places and would prefer watching from the comfort of my cozy chair. I love the photos and look forward to seeing the rest. Some of those fishes are just plain ugly and that's what makes them so interesting. Those jellyfish are amazing creatures, aren't they?

Enjoy the summer while you can.
    Hugs, Julia

  7. We went to an aquarium in Kansas City, MO once. It was amazing! Looks like you had fun! I would hate to have to drive in traffic. Am so glad I was transferred to a smaller town for work. Janice

  8. I have lived in a couple of tourist towns, and they did get packed at certain times of the year! That aquarium looks fantastic. Yes, the way the jellyfish move, and their incredible glowing colors, is indeed mesmerizing! Mermaids probably use them like TVs: "Go watch the jellyfish until dinner is ready!"

  9. I think all the tourist areas are over crowded, even here, I can't enjoy a lot of places.
Looks like a fun place to visit though.
