Mobile, Alabama is the home to the original Mardi Gras. My sister has lived there for decades and always joined in the celebrations, including attending a few of the balls. Sadly, this year it is not happening, so they have come up with Yardi Gras, where people have decorated their houses and yards.
Too funny.

ReplyDeleteI seen this on our local news this morning. Very creative! TFS Janice
ReplyDeleteI grew up in New Orleans, lived on St. Charles and then in Algiers, and parades rolled by the end of our street and up and down. I miss the whole Mardi Gras season, but it was so changed from what it was when I was young. Yardi Gras sounds so fun. At least it's an attempt. Looks like they have some pieces of old Blaine Kern floats.
ReplyDeleteI love this. So different from the usual festivities but still fun.
ReplyDeleteWe had buttered pancakes with local maple syrup and sausage patties for supper. Tomorrow Lent starts so no sweets or snacks for a little while.
Take care.
Hugs, Julia
