Too White?

Oh, wait.  Maybe I am not allowed to say that :(  Not politically correct!

I started on the background on the Tree of Life with the wool provided in the kit.  It was way to white.

I found a wool in my stash that I like much better.  (I think the true color is closer to the first picture.)

Early in the quarantine or whatever we want to call it, I was so much more productive.  I need to get out of this slump.

The county in which I live just mandated that masks are required in public if a distance of 6' cannot be maintained.  So now on my morning walk must I wear a mask because all sidewalks are not 6' wide and I may pass someone?  (I am no scientist, nor doctor, nor health care professional so I may be blowing smoke here with my figures.)  My county has a population of 301,356.  We have had 1,064 confirmed cases which is .0035%.  The deaths stand at 68 which is .00022%.  That means there are 2.2 (2 point 2) deaths for every 10,000 people in the county.  I do wear a mask in a store, but nowhere else.  Restaurants are now open, but a mask must be worn in all indoor locations with the new mandate.  Am I allowed to take it off to eat . . . or will they once again close restaurants?  If I am in a car with someone other than a family member . . . you got it.  A mask must be worn.

Can you say frustrated?

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs :)
Lauren

  1. Totally understand your frustration. Shit, you can't say any f'n thing anymore. Ooops. I said shit. Can't say that as it's vulgar; but maybe vulgar is okay but mentioning a color isn't. Could go on and on about names of products forced to change, monuments, etc, etc,
This world has turned upside down, what we need is someone to police us and keep us safe WHAT? Nope, can't have police either. Girl, we're ups shit's creek.
    God Bless America.

  2. Simply as yourself the following questions in regards to a mask as a form of help to you and the people surrounding yourself at any given time...
Have you ever had a temperature of 104 or 105?
Do you like a cold shower or cold bath...because a cooling blanket is like laying on a bed of ice.
Are you a private person...when you are in an ICU level of care with lungs filled with what looks like solid jello put through a blender...a temp of 104...naked expect for a towel covering your body parts...diarrhea...bags to collect your liquid and solid waste...being subjected to constant scrutiny by teams of medical personnel studying your status. These are just a few of the things you would face. And everyone will repeatedly be announcing your age to said teams during this process.
    So...depends on you.
Eating out...pull the mask down to your chin. Don't take it off.
    Very simple.

  3. Also remember that when fundamental changes take place...the pendulum always swings to the far other side before it settles back in place.
    Go about your daily life.
Keep the drama of instability out of your home.
    Turn off the t.v.
Listen to more movies or music.
Audio books too...you can use your hands to create while these are in the background.
This will be teaching out future generations...by example from their elders...on how to simply stay calm.

  5. I like the new color better but I usually need Paint to see what a large area would look like. As for the masks, I understand it, but the virus is not leaving. We could lockdown and mask for a year, coming out of it will be no different than a one month lockdown. The most vulnerable need to avoid contact and practice the distance and be very cautious, but in my area, the younger are not following the rules. And you can't go through a store and what ... arrest them? Half the store takes off the mask once inside, but not the older folks. Three little boys in Dunham's a month ago were sneezing, mom and them had no masks, manager said nothing. Those clear full face shields are better I think, clear vision, easy breaths, nothing gets through the plastic. But you have to start plucking your upper lip again.

  6. First of all, wearing a mask is not a problem anywhere. Our sidewalks are not 6 ft wide either but when passing, one just steps onto the side grass or roadway (checking for traffic first).
My aunt died of the covid - it is real. I live in a small town in Ontario and have no problem with the various grocery stores who insist on mask being worn. Don't understand why people object. If you don't like the store ruling policy, then don't shop there and hope you don't get the virus elsewhere.
My sister in law is a nae sayer and she of all people should be wearing a mask because
    of pre exhisting health issues.
Re your rug - yes, you made the right decision to change the bright white.
I am a firm believer of out of something will come something good - am getting a lot of UFO's completed and it feels so great not to have to be anywhere at anytime!

    Stay well everyone

  7. Everyone's comments were very good . We are all tired of the way things are and miss the good old days and all the fun events we looked forward to .
When hooking or doing punch needle I get frustrated because I need supplies, I like to touch & feel fabrics , I don't always want to purchase things on line. I was able to go to Woolen Memories for wool & buy another pattern to hook , I felt So Happy & inspired to be in her pretty shop ! An hour of feeling normal wearing our masks ...I needed that !!!
Your Tree Of Life looks pretty ! A nice design to hook . Thank goodness we can get our hair done now !!!!

  8. I like the second choice of color for your Tree of Life and you are right, the white is too white.

Everyone is starting to feel the Covid-19 isolation and are starting to go stir crazy especially if they were used to be around people or traveled a lot. My sister in law is one of those people.

I've noticed the younger ones are not paying attention to the face-covering or social distancing. I'm high risk so I try to stay away from people as much as I can and I don't mind my own company.

Remember way back when it started, I posted that it would get a lot worst before it would get better. I still stand by that statement. I don't have any sane advice to give you to get you out of this funk but maybe just take the k out of funk and try fun.
Wear a mask and since it's hot, take off excess clothes and go for a walk. Everyone will give you social distance on the sidewalk. Don't get mad at me, I'm just trying to help a frustrated friend.

    Hugs, Julia😂

  9. I am south of you Lauren and we just went red too. I don't mind the mask because I am not out for long periods of time. Grocery shopping is about it. Have gone to a couple of restaurants this week and wasn't very comfortable. Will go back to home cooking or the occasional take out. I am going to try an exercise class on Monday if it isn't cancelled. My rate of calorie intake sure hasn't slowed down.

I do walk out side and do not wear a mask.

Stay sane my friend as best you can.

  10. lol! You crack me up! ;-) Good thinking to change the background...
I wear a mask when in a store... when I walk outdoors and see someone coming the other way, I either cross the street or go into the street to stay the 6 ft. mostly when it is a stranger whose hygiene practices I do not know...lol! If close friends or family that I know are being careful, then no mask...but, do try to stay 6ft away from those that "Spray it instead of saying it"! Ha!

  11. We just were told masks are mandatory now too. UGH. I do were one when I go to the busier city, but not in my small town...guess now I have too. PLus we have to put a sign on our stores that read: Masks are now required by our governor. If you are not wearing one, I am assuming you have a medical condition that prevents you from wearing one. I agree that was a bit too white. Janice

  12. Ok, I'm the ET of the T's so I will be racist and say it's too white. (Oh wait...perhaps that's exactly what I SHOULD say??? Hell...I'm so confused at this point....) And you know where I'm at with the mask thing. I am leery of voicing my opinion in that regard because we apparently no longer have the right of free speech...I can't tell you how many people no longer speak to me because I don't mask in "public" (yes, I wear them in medical centers where I KNOW there are sick people, etc.) Yes, I'm high risk...I GET it...but I cannot and will not ignore the scientific facts regarding their ineffectiveness...and the issues it causes me given my psoriasis, my inability to breathe like most people do, anxiety and claustrophobia...But, apparently not all lives or opinions matter... And it saddens me that I can't feel free to voice my opinion anymore without being censored, judged, ridiculed, and treated like a leper. I may not agree with others' opinions, but I attempt to respect their right to HAVE different opinions. Yikes. :-( :-( :-( And BTW Saundra...if you are listening....you actually said the "s" word twice. For shame for shame.... ;-) ~Robin~

  13. Oh I hear you. Thousands of people continue to die from cancer, heart disease, diabetes, etc and no one talks about them. And because of Covid 19--hospitals have separated the critically ill from their families.

  14. Love your rug. I am not a white colour user, I always go to antique whites or creams and not white, white. I just hope this whole virus thing goes away soon.
    Have a great weekend.

  15. Hi Lauren,
I love your new rug and love your color change!! I lean more toward antique or cream!!!
This has been a time of great testing and challenge for all of us and I have my moments, but find that praying really helps me!! Jeff and I take early morning walks each day, partly due to the heat that starts the minute the sun comes up, and partly because there are less people about!! We always move to the other side of the street if we see someone coming and stay home as much as we can!! Both of us work from home so that really hasn't changed things that much, but it is so difficult to feel like those normal things are no longer the norm!! So, we continue to pray and trust for better days ahead!! May sound too simplistic to some, but it really helps me to cope!!!
Take care and hang in there, my friend!!!
    Heart Hugs~
