Finally ~

I don't understand why this little mat took me well over 2 weeks to hook and bind.  For Pete's sake it is only 12" x 12 1/2".  Mr. Jingles.  Pattern by Notforgotten Farm.

In lieu of rusty bells, I used antique shoe buttons.  I think he came out pretty darn sweet if I do say so myself :)  (Christmas gift #1 done.)

Ohio is beginning to open up though I really have been nowhere.  More and more hooking events are being cancelled.  Rug Week at Sauder Village (August) has been cancelled.  My guild's hook in (October) has also been cancelled.  Our chairperson is unable to talk to anyone at the rec center where it was to be held and we have no way of knowing what the guidelines for gatherings will be in the fall.  It is just so sad what this damn virus has done to our country.  On a bright note, my class with Cindi Gay has been rescheduled for July.  The group is small and three days of hooking sounds like heaven.

So sad that I am home just about all the time and don't have more to show for it.  Busy all the time but I can't figure out where the time goes or what I have been doing.  Nothing to talk about.  B.O.R.I.N.G.  I haven't had hook in hand for at least a week.  I am just in a funk.  I'm sure many of you feel the same way.  This virus has really begun to wear me down :(

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs :)
Lauren

  1. We’re in the same time warp. Happily my friends and I fall apart at different times so we lean a lot on each other. Your little piece is cute!!!!

  2. I love your snowman lucky you getting a leg up on Christmas. I have not been in a funk lately mine came when it first started I guess I shook it off and have been fine since. All of our rug hooking events have been canceled too that is sad for sure. I have been so busy gardening that I haven't had much time for anything else. I hook at night while we watch a show or two.

  4. Love the snowman, great that you've got a start on Christmas, wish I could say the same.
The days just go by, I'm busy but don't think I've accomplished much. I can't believe half the year is over and 3/4 of it was spent staying at home. It's uncertain what the fall season will bring us.

  5. The snowman is absolutely stunning with those special buttons. It really gives it a classy look.
Sorry about having all those hooking venues canceled but at least you still have one to attend.

Like you, I've been busy but can never find out where the time goes. I have so much stuff I want to do and I'm enjoying it all. The sun is shining again after a weekend of high wind and rain. We even had a bit of hail. Lots of damaged trees in our city and lots of residents were without power. Fortunately our power on clicked on and off several times. Now I have to go mow a section of my lawn.
Hang in there. It could be worst. Stay safe and well.

  6. I love your snowman and his shoe button eyes. He is very cute. I am glad I have this house thing to keep me busy, because I would be going crazy. I really haven't been anywhere since March. The grocery store, but no place else. I understand. Then to not be able to do regular things is sad too, I am glad you get to go to one hook in.
I am glad I live where I live. It hasn't been restrictive like some other places in California.
Have a wonderful day. I hauled 18 boxes of books to the used bookstore today. :)

  7. Hey, you got a step up on Christmas giving 6 months early, good for you! Just yesterday I was really bored and was the first time my feeling separation of life beyond the house. Thankfully that feeling isn't here today but think WE as a nation need to get back to business.
Isn't it strange how we needed to be distancing, wear masks and then the riots occur shoulder to shoulder, line by line, masses can gather and that's OK???

  8. Again how I wish I were on your Christmas giftee list LOL. This little guy steals my heart...love his shoe button eyes...and your hooking just gobsmucks me every time. Look at those little circles you hooked into the background!! I wanted to hook him (and, ummm, not ashamed to admit it would take me a heck of a lot longer than 2 weeks to hook him...let alone hook and bind him). I'm still battling a whale. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Sorry to hear about your hooking rendezvous.... Cathy was telling me about all the things she had scheduled being canceled. If that's still the case this fall, I am going to twist her arm into doing some small "in-studio" workshops or something. I'd try to do that now, but I likely wouldn't be able to make it...I'm not doing so well keeping up with 2 places LOL. Yep, our world is a dang scary place this days...and our country a disappointing mess. That's all I have to say about that. ~Robin~

  9. Cute cute cute! I have two friends that are not handling this well at all. Really. One doesn't even want to go out as things open because of gang shootings in her shopping area. The other hates Trump so much that she has allowed it to eat away her health and well being. The virus was the topper for both.

  10. Mr Jingles is so darn dapper! Love those buttons.....they almost sparkle! :-) Happy to hear you are going to get to at least one hooking event! I would think that there would be folks working from home to be able to schedule events in larger places....either that or they just need to figure better ventilation in the larger places? I'm all for more outdoor/fresh air shopping/events, etc... yes....even in the cooler months...

  12. Love your Mr Jingles ! I hooked him last year & used old shoe buttons too , was fun to hook !
I am in the same Funk too....guess I'm tired of hooking & doing needle punch too . On top of that I have tennis elbow , so really need to be careful , so I can feel better sooner ! Think I just need a really neat shop with antiques & pretty things to get me out of this !!!! And to have my whole family here to hug !!!!

  13. Hi Lauren,
Mr.Jingles is just so adorable and I love how you used the old shoe buttons!!! Someone sure will be happy with him!!!!
I'm so sorry you are feeling in a funk and think that we all are just so tired of so much negative and strangeness in our lives!!! I pray every day that good things will happen and will keep praying!! It helps me to feel like I am doing something positive and we all sure do need some positive, don't we??
I listened to a song the other day called, ITS GONNA GET BETTER!!!! I'm holding on to that TIGHTLY!!!!!
Take care my friend and tell Molly to give you some extra love!!
    Heart Hugs~

  16. Be kind to yourself. Yes, I often ask myself, where did the time go and what do I have to show for it. Since Covid 19 turned the world upside down, focusing on anything is a challenge
