Not much to share. Things are opening up in Ohio, but I still haven't really been anywhere except an occasional trip to the grocery store and one to the garden center. I really need to get there again. I don't plant annuals in the ground, but do put them in crocks and the old wheelbarrow.
Hooking is going S-L-O-W-L-Y :( It should not take a week and a half to hook a small mat ~ but it is. I am getting close on Mr. Jingles and am anxious to get him done.
The binding is done on the last of the hook in door prize mats. Rug labels have been sewn on a number of small mats. Lots of piddly stuff getting done but nothing major.
The yard has been taking up quite a bit of my time. It is a never ending process especially when the gardens are a jungle. Why have I ended up with so many invasive plants? I've dug some and passed them on but it's still a jungle.
The iris are exceptionally beautiful this year.
I really need to spray the hostas before the deer find them.
My one and only azalea. It was here when I moved in. I've planted many others but not a one has survived.
DSO lives in a former shipyard and the front of his unit is what was once a drydock where they built 1000' Great Lakes ore carriers. Not the sharpest picture of the heron . . . they usually fly away just when I am ready to snap one.
Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs :)
Lauren
Sweet hooked mat! I love seeing the herons we have here. Love your tricycle in the hostas. I have some that are a bluish green color. Janice
ReplyDeleteLol Kermit is right! I have so much carp in my gardens I am down sizing them and ditching the rest. I don't do much for annuals but we did put in a small veggie garden the plants are expensive this year.

I cannot believe it, but this has to be the first year EVER since I have had my own house that I planted nary a plant...and odd as it may sound, it is not really killing me no going to a greenhouse. Maybe I really am sick. Is that a little-known symptom of the COVID 19?? Maybe it's an all or nothing sorta thing...I either go overboard and plant more than one human can possibly take care of and if I can't do that, I want nothing?? Who knows. Invasive plants annoy me LOL.... I try to make sure that anything I plant doesn't have that tendency, but eeek...the few mistakes I've made are taking their toll on me. Oh...and what do you spray to prevent deer from eating plants? I was gifted a begonia which I hung at the lake...came back a few days later and it was shaved down to nothing. Yikes! ~Robin~
ReplyDeleteYour hooking and finishing is so neat and tidy. I love the piece! Irises were not my fav until I found some bulbs discarded and planted them. They came up purple with a strong grape scent! I’ve since shared the bulbs with friends
ReplyDeleteThis year I've noticed weeds and sprouting trees/bushes are more prevalent than the last 22 years I've lived here. I have some periwinkle which I used to love and thought would never catch and now I'm being overrun with it. Yesterday I used the riding mower to mow over an area of it and am thinking of doing that more before the serviceman changes my blade.
ReplyDeleteYour plants are beautiful. Someone told me to use malorganite to helpkeep the deer away. It is an organic fertilizer, so you have the added effect of fertilizing.Bought some but haven’t tried it yet. Seems Iam only successful working on small things. Just crazy.
ReplyDeleteYour little kitty and pumpkin mat is adorable. Such great hooking and I love the background and the antique black is perfect on the kitty.
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying visiting your gardens. I love the Irises, mine is still not in bloom yet. Like you, I'm spending so much time in the yard and garden and I'm getting all tanned. I got most of my garden planted except for a few veggies. There seems to be no end to it. Weeds have taken over my lawn and I can't lame headways. This year, the dandelions and Creeping Charlies are the beasts and now the mosquitoes are out in full force and how I hate their annoying songs... The heat is killing me already and we are still in May. By the time I come in, I'm too tired to blog.
Lol on poor Kermit.
Hugs, Julia
Gorgeous yellow but what is that .... beige? Never saw that!
ReplyDeleteIs it pepper spray that you use for the deer? Mine must like TexMex foods.
Look at those perfect loops and waves. Wow.
OMG...my pants are soooooo tight! lol!
ReplyDeleteLove all of those Iris.... mine never bloom...
Your irises are stunning!! I have only purples and peaches...that yellow is gorgeous! I've tried hostas on my back patio, but it just gets too darn hot. We had three days of over 100 degrees and I don't know who feels worse, me or my roses. I've noticed that it is getting harder and harder to focus. I spend a lot of time outside watering and raking, but that's not helping with my stitching. LOL I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteHi Lauren,

Glad things are starting to open up more now for you, too!!! We are as well, but it just takes time and there is still lots of mixed emotions!!
Hope you enjoy your weekend!! It's HOT here in AZ and I'm sure your Vegas son says the same thing!!! 111 degrees just seems WRONG!!!! Staying cool and creating in the AC for me!!!

Your flowers are beautiful! And the photo of Kermit--you added laughter to my life for the first time in weeks! So next time someone asks me about Covid, I'm just going to tell them my pants are to tight.
ReplyDeleteWonderful rug and beautiful gardens. I plant a bit each year, but I never stay home long enough to do anything more than that, lol.
ReplyDeleteAt this point, I plan on staying away from people, not worth taking the chance, and I am happier being outside.
Debbie
