I've been wanting a European baby bathtub, similar to this, for many years. I thought it would look so cool in the garden, but the rare time I have seen one the price is WAY more than I am willing to spend. This one on eBay is $575 plus $87 shipping. I've seen a similar one, the style I really want, for $300 locally, still totally out of my price range.
At a vintage shop last weekend, I found this white enamel one for only $24.
Thankfully DSO is very handy :) With a $4 piece of rebar, he welded me this great frame.
All planted.
Here it is, residing in my jungle of a garden. Pretty cool, no?
This clematis is so pretty this year. I guess it is loving all the rain. How do you like my cheesy $3 birdbath? I really should see how it can be painted so it would be less offensive.
Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs :)
Lauren
how sweet..it looks perfect in your garden...
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find and it looks wonderful filled with flowers.
ReplyDeleteA rusty one is much better looking.

Great eye for design and composition. It looks great in your yard. And what a thrifty way to achieve your goal!
ReplyDeleteLove that tub😉
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful Lauren!! Can't complain about the price! LOL!
ReplyDeletegood find! Lovely gardens

Wow! I’ve never seen a baby tub. It looks splendid in your garden. Smart & creative!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you finally found the tub you wanted. It looks at home in your lovely lush garden. Quite the focal point and those rebars are a brilliant idea. I bet everyone will want a tub in their garden now. A great place to stick a patriotic flag in.
ReplyDeleteAnd now, It's time for me to go outside with the mosquitoes to pull more weeds so I can plant the marigolds our local plant nursery generously gave me. I'm making slow progress but I'm getting there.
Hugs, Julia
Love the little tub...your DSO is a keeper! Well done.

New acquisition is wonderful, as is your DSO for making the frame for it. Nothing offensive about your bird bath at all and serves the birds well. Besides, if you paint it eventually it would start chipping and the birds might consume some of those paint chips.
ReplyDeleteLove the baby bath. You are so lucky that DSO is handy. I love Blake dearly, but he doesn’t have a handy bone in his body. Are those gorgeous yellow flowers petunias?? Never saw any that color. And what are the pretty little pink flowers in your garden? The clematis is gorgeous. Ours bloomed ages ago and are gone now.
ReplyDeleteWow what a bargain !!! Even at the Brimfield Flea Markets they are expensive , yours looks beautiful !!!
ReplyDeleteLooks perfect! Great idea and garden addition. I still have the cast iron sink with drainboard but we can't figure out how to support it. I like the birdbath. Raccoons have broken every clay/ceramic I've had regardless of being secured. Found a plastic one on Amazon that I'm giving a try. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you found your tub. Looks great amongst your flowers! Janice
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful! Nice to have a handy guy around who can make you a stand too!
ReplyDeleteOh my heck! That is all kinds of GORGEOUS!!! You have planted it absolutely PERFECTLY....and the placement in your garden is equally perfect. I am so jealous.... My SIL has had one for years that I keep begging her to sell to me....have even resorted to threatening thievery....to no avail. But I haven’t given up hope yet.... She is building yet another new house and is threatening to downsize even more than the last time she built and moved. Maybe there’s still hope. My clematis hasn’t even begun to bloom. (Had 2 planted together, but lost one this winter...along with many other perennials). It didn’t help that the day my DH had someone spray the lawn for weeds it was windy...and well, my perennials look like something out of Chernobyl. Between that and the weather, I am ready to all but give up on plants. ~Robin~
