Great Lakes Rug Hooking Retreat ~

Rug camp was held at the Lodge at Geneva-on-the Lake, Ohio.  Put on by Anne Bond and Nancy Stowers, it was a first class camp.  The camp's theme was flamingos.  I am not big on costumes, but many were very creative.  Here is a sampling.

There were seven teachers at camp.  Here are some of the rugs of Anne Bond.

Gail Dufresne has a very funky style.  These are not something I would normally hook, but I love these fish.

Cathy Stephan of Red Barn Rugs has so many wonderful patterns.  I've had her twice in the past so decided not to take her class.  On top of being a top notch hooker and pattern designer, she is just sweet as can be.

I will share my class in my next post.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs :)

  1. I think the flamingo theme is a hoot. What a great way to let loose. Some great costumes...
I love those rugs and especially the ones displayed on the wall seems to go so well together as the colors are similar.
I'm sure you had a flamingo of a time.

  3. Enjoyed the show. OMG...flamingos.... my mother loved pink flamingo yard ornaments I used to make fun of her. So it got to be a theme where I'd give her a crazy flamingo gift of some sort each Christmas and Birthday. Thanks for the fond memory of my mother.

  6. The rugs are gorgeous! I love Cathy's designs...I would like to take a class from her one day. The rug camp looks like fun but there's no way I could ever get into a costume either! Glad you had a great time!

  7. What a fun post... Hmmm...flamingos, eh??? I guess I would have passed on costuming for that too LOL. Beautiful rugs....Those Anne Bond rugs are AMAZING!! That one with the steer and bird nest....wow....it looks like a photo!! And those roosters! EEEE GAD.... And you know I love Cathy (and her designs!) to pieces. I think all the designs are ones I haven’t seen before,,,,other than the small little mat on the table with the daisies and little fat peeps....I actually hooked that and just pulled it out today. (Yes, I really did hook in case you forgot LOL). Thanks for the photos...those of us who have never been to a camp truly appreciate seeing bits of it! ~Robin~
