Greetings this sunny but still chilly day in northern Ohio. I do believe spring has forgotten about us.
Last Saturday at the Ann Arbor hook in, dear friend Bobbie gifted me this needle book. Stitched to perfection, it is just the sweetest. I'm lucky to have such a talented and generous friend.
Yesterday, another dear friend, Dolly (who adopted pug Eema from me many years ago) and I met for lunch. My belated birthday gift. WOW. A pug puzzle copyrighted 1901. Pugs looked much different than they do today. They had a very pronounced snout that has been bred out of them over the years. Probably not a good thing because the flatter the face, the more breathing issues they can have. I am truly blessed to call Dolly friend :)
I was very good at the Ann Arbor hook in. I only bought a book on hooking eyes from Kris Miller and these yummy (sale) wools from Anne Bond. The middle wool is more bronzy than is showing in the picture. I am trying so hard not to buy wool because the wool room is overflowing.
I will leave you with a bit of humor.
To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine.
And those who don't and are always seen with a bottle of water in their hand.
Ben Franklin said: "In wine there is wisdom. In beer there is freedom. In water there is bacteria."
In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 litre of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. Coli) bacteria found in feces.
In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop annually.
However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or rum, whiskey or other liquor), because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and fermenting.
Remember: Water = Poop. Wine = Health.
Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid than to drink water and be full of sh**.
There is no need to thank me for this valuable information. I'm doing it as a public service.
Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs :)

Thank you for the good laugh today !!! That is a riot !!!
ReplyDeleteSo I could blame it on the water next time someone tells me I am full of s***? Good deal!!
ReplyDeleteWell aren’t you just full of witty wisdom. It’s all a little scarey, if you really think about it. Could that be really true ? 1 kilo of ecoli ? Ugh.

I don't know about the water findings but I'm sticking with my wine. I'm starting to feel wiser every day. Who knew that wine made us wise. I've got another batch on the go. lol... Thanks for the valuable info. I needed that good laugh.
ReplyDeleteThat a cute little pug puzzle and it's nice to see how the pugs has evolved through select breeding over the years and you have wonderful friends indeed because you are wonderful yourself. You reap what you sow.
The wool you bought is for good luck. They look great together.
Hugs, Julia
Oh wine for a glass now!
ReplyDeleteCathy
That is just too funny
ReplyDeleteIn my heart I knew there had to be a good reason why I don't drink water. Off to open that bottle of wine.
ReplyDeleteThe wool is gorgeous.
I wish that pugs and bulldogs and frenchies were not bred that way.
ReplyDeleteBobbie is sweet indeed! Great gift. Thanks for the laugh...makes me not want to drink water anymore. LOL Janice
ReplyDeleteThe gifts are so sweet! I wonder if dirty martinis offer the same benefits as wine but just to be sure I should just drink both regularly and stop drinking water.
ReplyDeleteWonderful gifts and beautiful wool, it is fun to treat ourselves once in awhile.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
har har har. I'll drink a glass of wine to that!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, anyway :)
ReplyDeleteWater = poop....yuck! I better get out the wine glasses! :)
ReplyDeleteThis was good for a chuckle--and I badly needed a chuckle. Next time someone asks me if I have drank my daily quota of water I am going to share this with them!
ReplyDeleteI've always wondered about the older pictures of pugs with the longer noses. Very interesting. As for the wine versus water thing -- ugh. Thanks a lot. I'm a water drinker....
ReplyDeleteHa! LOVE that public service announcement! :-) Cute puzzle too...stayed in nice condition over soooo many years too! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHaha you are too funny. I love that puzzle. What a find. Your gifts are amazing. I do hope it warms up for you.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day Lauren.
Oh, Oh ... I am in big trouble. Just had bladder surgery and was told to drink plenty of water. YUK!!!
ReplyDeleteI wish that pugs and bulldogs and frenchies were not bred that way.
