A New Year ~

Remember 18 years ago?  Y2K?  All the talk that everything was going to collapse because computers would not recognize the year 2000?  It's hard to believe it was so long ago.  Also hard to believe that I have been blogging for over eight years.  Thanks again for following along on my journey :)

Ernestine on New Year's eve.  She wasn't wild about her tiara and this was the best picture I could get.

I have been a crazy woman un-decorating.  Each time I think everything is in the attic except for two of the (many) trees, I find more stuff . . . sigh.  I think it's a sign I just have too much.  The big tree is ready to be hauled up.  The only thing left decorated is that tinsel tree from Walmart that I have fallen in love with.  I think I will leave it up and lit while I put my house back in order which will take at least a couple more days.  I want everything done before I head to rug camp.  I sure hope the weather improves in northern Florida.  It's not even 40* today, but the forecast is looking better.  Speaking of rug camp, I better start making my packing list though I know I will wait until the last minute possible to pack.

With the start of this little rug, I think the hooking mojo has returned.  Just a fun little pattern that is an easy hook.  Not sure how/if I am going to do a border.  This picture is the rug hooked by the pattern designer, Old Scotties Primitives.

The finished size will only be about 16" x 24".  Funny, not many years ago that would have been a HUGE rug for me.

I hope your new year is off to a great start.  I've seen talk about not making resolutions, but having a word for the year.  I think my word for the year will be purge.  If I can rid myself of one thing a day for 365 days, I will barely make a dent, but it's a start, right?

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs :)
Lauren

  1. yep we're suffering a bit because our homes are not made for prolonged cold weather day after day. Our house has entire walls of glass and no attic and no insulation. So hard to heat - impossible in these temps. Next Friday it will be 72 and flip flops back out again more than likely. Believe me they are buried deep right now. Of course I love being able to wear all my hand knits. Happy New Year - see you very soon - Mel

  2. I can't even think of getting my house in order, I'm so outdone by the cold weather and longer hours of working in the cold frigid temperatures. I'll be lucky if I can undecorate at all.

Hope the Florida temperatures improves for you. We are waiting for another snow storm with blizzard conditions. sigh...

  3. Earnestine looks sweet even though she did not like her tiara. I remember working so much overtime and Saturdays/ Sundays before Y2K. Many days for nothing. LOL Have fun at rug camp! Janice

  5. Hi Lauren,
Queen Ernestine didn't look too happy with her crown, but she is still adorable!!!
We got our things put away today and Jeff kept saying, "Where did we get ALL THIS STUFF?" I hope the weather warms up for you at rug camp!! I know even if it is cold, you will still have a fabulous time!
    Take care, my friend!

  7. OOPS, forgot to mention that I like your new rug pattern. And, at the rate of usage of my second stage heat (propane) my propane tank will be empty before a delivery next Tuesday.

  10. Last year I resolved to purge three things a week, not one a day, and still did not succeed. Seems like I replace the purged items quicker than I purge.
Happy new year. Love the photo.
