Snowman on Drugs ~

Even when I make a conscious effort not to hook something too large, I have a tendency to hook on the line, which when hooking with a larger cut make an enormous difference.  His eyes and nose were just TOO BIG.

I think I did more reverse hooking on this little mat than I do on a large rug.  Those lumps of coal were just giving me fits.  You can't tell by the picture, but I used sparkly grunged white wool for the snowman.  It's the first time I've used sparkly wool and I did not care for hooking with it.  The weave was very loose and I had a tendency to catch the wool with my hook ~ hence lots of strings to be cut.

Just thought I'd share my vintage Christmas books with you.  I've had the little Holly Berries book for decades and have no idea where I got it.  The others I've purchased over the years.  I purchased the Chatterbox because it is dated 1920 and that was the year of my dear mom's birth.

I've had a laid back couple of days and I've loved it.  I've been home during the day, hooking, catching up on odd and ends, playing on the computer ~ just heaven.  Tomorrow it's back to reality :(

As we wind down 2015, I'd like to say a big thank you to all who stop by.  I really do appreciate your support and kind words.

Pug hugs :)

  2. I love the snowman. I can never remember if you hook on the line or inside. I finished my challenge rug and could not wait to start another rug. I have started Emma's Garden by spruce Ridge. I did not want to draw anything out and have to use my brain. This was the only pattern I had already drawn. Its a fun pattern, I am prodding the flowers which I have never done before. I hope you have a blessed New Year!

  3. You snowman came out beautiful and I would love leafing through those old Christmas books. They are sweet treasures for sure.

I've been puttering around the house and playing on the computer and doing a load of laundry waiting for the cow to calve in between barn work basically a relaxing day. It's been storming outside and the side streets are not even plowed yet. The plow will probably wake me up during the night.

    Happy New Year.
    Hugs,

  13. Hello My Sweet Good Twin.... A belated Merry Christmas....(if I remember how to post a blog comment LOL). Looks like it was a wonderful one...but holy presents! ;-) I adore your little snowman rug!! And hook on the line? Inside the line? What the heck you talking about? I can't color in the lines, so I certainly can't hook in them. And I love your books.... I have a few, but did not get to that box this year. :o( Yes, it's been a long, long, unpacking process. I've missed you my friend....Hope to catch up somehow someway with you. Wishing you a blessed yuletide filled with miracles and magic.... Smiles & Christmas Hugs ~ Robin
