You'd think I sit around watching TV all evening eating bonbons the way I'm scrambling to get things done. Truth be told, I don't have a working TV ~ haven't had one in years ~ and don't miss it a bit :) People think me strange, but so be it.
My niece and family are continuing their holiday tradition of spending Thanksgiving here in Ohio. What a great tradition it is, and the least I can do is Swiffer up some of this dog hair. Now Ellie doesn't shed nearly as much as a pug, but I should invest in Swiffer stock ~ or maybe I should just Swiffer more often :)
In between cleaning and work, I did get the yard raked (just about froze my butt off) and have worked on a few things. I started a little Christmas sampler by Country Rustic Primitives. I love the colors, but I don't know if it's the linen I'm working on (I think it's only a 28 count so nothing tiny) or the drab colors, but I am having a terrible time stitching this. It is small so I'll do just a little each day ~ when it gets done, it gets done. It will probably just end up in the "needing to be finished" pile along with several other cross stitch pieces.
I'm also hooking a little pumpkin (???). An acquaintance bought a little mat from me and has requested a similar one to give her sister for Christmas so it's not something I can put off. Thankfully it won't take long.
I've also sewn the binding on the little heart mat. I love using wool to bind.
I don't think my company is arriving until late tomorrow, so I hope to find the time to sneak to a new hooking group that is meeting for the first time. That is after I work, go to the grocery store one more time (ugh, the crowds) . . . you know how it is.
Thank you so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs :)

Taking care of dog is a great job. Your stitching work looks good. Pumpkin looks great.
ReplyDeleteWith you it's dog hair and with me it's little pieces of hay on the floor.
ReplyDeleteI have to get my butts in gear to clean my house before my company arrives for Christmas too. I don't even use my swiffer anymore, lol and the TV is on for the news only at meal time when we are sitting down.
Maybe you need to invest in a pair of magnifying glasses for that small linen count. I have one that hooks over my head that I bought years ago at a sewing store for around $40.You could get it much cheaper than that online.
Cute little pumpkin mat and I love how you use wool fabric to bind your heart mat.
Hugs,
JB

Love the proddy rug! I use a magnifier that goes around my neck and rests on my chest...could not stitch without it! My new one has a light in it and it really helps!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Thanksgiving, Lauren...enjoy your visit with your family!
Hugs,
Robyn

Morning, love the heart, so sweet......Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving, Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteThat stitchery you are doing is too fine a project for me to even consider, so good for you. The pumpkin is coming along fine and since it is small should go fast.
ReplyDeleteLOVE that heart mat and how you used the fabric and proddy around the edges.

I love seeing what you are working on. I had to laugh about your swifter stock. I told my husband yesterday, I clean this silly house every week and each Monday it is so filthy. I just can't figure it out. Maybe I just need to get rid of some animals. :) Not!!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Thanksgiving.
It is always fun to see what you are working on,there are always such diversity.Love the cross stitch piece, the colors are beautiful.Happy Thanksgiving! Blessings,Jen

Hi, Lauren,
ReplyDeleteIt must be much warmer up there for you to be outside raking leaves! I planted more bulbs today, but the rest will have to wait until next week when it is supposed to be in the 40's. Do you go shopping on Friday? I always avoid black Friday like the plague, but will probably go to the shops in Tipp on Saturday for small business day. Love your heart mat and how you finished it. Did you ever find your proddy tool? You know, if you buy a new one you will find it shortly after :) I had lost my heat tape for the barn, as soon as the new one arrived, I found the old one! Happy Thanksgiving!
Melinda
You are smart not to have a tv. It's just too easy to turn it on and get sucked in. I began stitching a piece by Brenda Gervais that called for going over one thread with one thread and it was just too tiny--I'm going to do it over two threads instead and hope my linen will be big enough! Happy Thanksgiving! ~Roberta
ReplyDeleteHave a great thanksgiving tomorrow. Don't stress too much with the swiffer. Your family is coming to see you, not your house :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great Thanksgiving, Lauren. You will get it all done, I'm sure...hope you can relax and enjoy the day!
ReplyDeleteI should invest in Swiffer, too...Jess sheds more hair than any five dogs...I have tumbleweeds of red hair up and down my hallway right now...sigh.
Hugs, Linda
