Frannie, Naked Ladies & Crazy Petunia Basket

Now that is one comfortable pug curled up in my bed! My dear foster Frannie went to what I hope is her forever home today. I do hope it works out for her. Usually I am convinced the adoption will work just fine, but with this one I have apprehensions. The couple lives in a townhome/condo and they are worried about upsetting the neighbors if she barks. They have a male pug, Charlie, who they say doesn't bark. Frannie doesn't bark a lot, but until she gets comfortable in their home, she may bark when they leave and then when they get back home. I mean, she is a dog, and dogs bark, for Pete's sake. Right? I already called to check on her last evening, and so far, so good. If by chance it doesn't work out, she is welcome back here anytime! How could you not fall in love with this face?
My mom always called these Naked Ladies. In the spring, they get leaves very similar to that of a daffodil. They then die back and a few weeks later buds start sprouting from the ground. Others refer to it as a Resurrection Lily. I looked it up, but do not recall the correct name. In a week's time it went from this.....
...to this. Simply amazing.
Can anyone tell me what's going on with my petunia basket? (You can enlarge the picture for a better look.) I've never seen such a thing and it's just very bizarre.
The wine gods were smiling on Wine on the Water Saturday evening. The weather was perfect, the musical entertainment superb and the crowd plentiful. Hopefully the Black River Historical Society made a tidy profit. I was so busy selling tickets, I did not have time to sample any of the wines ;-(

It's Monday again. I hope your week is off to a great start.
Thank you for stopping by.

Pug hugs :)
Lauren

  2. Lauren ~ I had a combo basket that looked like that in part ~ the geranium and verbena are still going but you just wonder what in the world happened!! I'm trying desperately to keep the baskets on the deck going thru the summer ~ it's a challenge!! I sure hope Frannie is in the right place ~ we'll hope for the best!!

  3. Aawww Lauren....Frannie can come to my house too...if it doesn't work out...! Funny, (not really, it's actually sad) my combo petunias and verbena pot look just awful! I've tried everything I can think of, but I think it's over..maybe it's been this cool summer and very little sunshine? I'm seriously thinking of replacing the pot with fake geraniums...(:

I called Frannie's new mom tonight and she did not call back. GGGRRRR!!! I hope it is working out. Frannie is a very special little girl! (OK, I'm a sucker for pugs...lol!)
It sounds like everyone is having problems with scrubby looking baskets. Glad it's not just me!
    Pug hugs :)

  5. I hope Frannie is well and happy. It looks like someone treated that petunia to a bit of Wine INSTEAD of water. Can't tell what's up with that, but it is growing....LOL!!

    enjoy,
