Puttin' on my Sad Face ~

In the front yard, I had two wonderful OLD maple trees.  This one was estimated at 65' tall.

Though still alive, it was dying.  The other night during a thunderstorm, I got up to be sure it was still standing.  I worried that it would take out my house ~ or the neighbor's.  I had hired a tree company to cut it down, but they had not yet shown up.

Today was the day.  I was fascinated watching them take her down.  It was like a well orchestrated ballet.

The last cuts :(

The tree was located on what we call the tree lawn, also known as a hell strip.  Unfortunately city ordinance does not allow me to replace it.

On a happier note, Maple Sugar Hearts is finally bound.  It sure took me long enough.

It is even labeled :)

Nothing is on the frame at present time.  I did draw out a little mat to hook that I hope to attach to the top of a vintage picnic basket.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs :)
Lauren

So sad to lose a tree but better to cut it down than it falls down.

We had a huge maple tree that had to be taken down. A big limb had fallen on my car. Thankfully our porch and wood fence took the brunt of it and not the car. When we had it taken down, the tree guy said it was full of carpenter ants and was dying inside. So glad we took it down before the rest of it did. Love your heart rug. So sweet! Janice

Always hard to see a beloved tree go. When we moved into our house, we had no trees, now we have a huge one and another that is catching up. Our neighbor planted pines on the edge and they are way too big and I worry if one fell. The rug came out beautifully.

So sorry about your tree. After the hurricane last year, neighbors took down towering pines that were decades old. It was so hard to watch...those pines were their long before their house was. We've removed diseased trees and it still makes me sad.
Great label and a great rug!

That is so sad, but I am glad it didn't fall during a storm. What wonderful wood I am sure it has. Julia says there is no wood that burns hotter than maple.
It is such a nice rug. I hope you have a nice weekend.

Love your heart rug (and the name !)
It takes skill to take down a tree as large as yours. Looks like the men did a good job.

It's always sad to lose a tree, especially such a venerable, old one. We had to take down a tree that was on the side of our house by the driveway. it kept losing branches -- and landing on our cars. lol! Not good! The tree guys are so skillful at their job -- it really is fascinating to watch them. And a bit scary! Love your rug!
