A Favorite Cupboard ~

I admit it.  I have a weakness for antique cupboards and own many.  If my house was bigger, I'd have even more :)

I don't remember when I purchased this diminutive cupboard, but I'm guessing it was at least 15 years ago.  It measure only 14" tall and 7 3/4" wide and sports a wonderful patina.

The neat thing about the cupboard is that it is made from on old Victrola cabinet.  Isn't that just too cool?

A little progress has been made on my scrappy crosses rug, but nothing worth sharing.  I am vending at a local hook in on Saturday, so I've been busy trying to get a few things made.  I must do something to support these habits of mine :)

Thanks so much for stopping by.

I Cleaned It ~ I REALLY Did ~

A few weeks ago I took a break from basement cleaning to clean the hooking room.  It looked great for a few days.  Look at it now . . .

I normally have just one rug in progress, occasionally two.  I currently have three.  With three rugs in progress and another to bind, this is what it looks like again.  ARGH!!!  I know many of you will agree it is difficult to keep the hooking room clean.  I am just happy I have a room to contain the mess :)

Here is the progress on my rugs.  I finally started the hit and miss border on my scrappy crosses rug.  The border is 3 1/2" wide and the overall size is 30" x 45".  HUGE for me.  I'm guesstimating the border will take me at least 15 more hours of hooking.

The little mat from my Connie Bradley class.  I've got a couple little things to change.  If  I would just sit down and hook on it, it would only take me a few hours to finish.

I have not pulled a loop on Proud Lion since class.  I think I will concentrate on the two rugs above.

What a gorgeous day here in northern Ohio.  I even did a little yard work.  It felt SO GOOD to be outside playing in the dirt.

Class Projects ~

Here are some of the projects being worked on in last week's class with Carol Weatherman.  The room had lots of windows and was very bright (GREAT for hooking), but caused a few of the rugs to look very washed out.

Standing wool projects . . .

On a sad note, it was one year ago today that I had to say goodbye to my Ellie after she was attacked by a dog in my driveway four days earlier.  The lawsuit I filed to hold the dog's owner accountable was finally settled.  I recouped the majority of my expenses, but he could not be made to pay attorney fees.  More important than the money was the fact that he was held responsible.  It just breaks my heart when I think about what poor Ellie went through.  She was such a little spitfire and there isn't a day that I don't miss her.  Run fast and free, my sweet baby girl.

Rugs ~

Carol Weatherman (the Sampling) brought these rugs she has hooked to our rug class.

This is the edge she attached to the above rug.  I believe she said she purchased it at Hobby Lobby, stained it and attached it to the rug.  Very cool finish!

The next two rugs were made with quillies and standing wool.

Crows back is made with Sari ribbon.

Some very cool applique Carol had done.  I thought of purchasing the one on the right but decided I needed to be good.  (No fun!)  I bought a little applique kit from her last year at Sauder but of course have not yet started it.

Yesterday, we celebrated birthdays.  Son J and grandson Jake both have birthdays this month, along with my older brother Bill and yours truly.  I'm still trying to figure out how I got this old.  I won't say how old, but I am now on Medicare . . . lol!

Thanks so much for stopping by.
I will share some of the class projects soon.

Quick Like a Bunny ~

That was a favorite expression of my dear mom.  Just want to get a really quick post up :)

Last night was my grandson's 6th grade orchestra concert.  What fun to see and hear him play.  I do hope he keeps it up.

I finished up my class today.  Here is some of the progress I made.  I know it doesn't look like much :(   I do have a little more done that I will share next time.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Not Much ~

Not a whole lot going on.  The 5"-10" of snow we were supposed to get pretty much missed us.  We got maybe 2"-3" but the wind is howling.  This afternoon I am heading out to the "snow belt" where I will be attending Carol Weatherman's class.  I believe they are getting blasted.  Since crashing a few years ago, I'm a chicken driving in bad weather, so my sweetie will be taking me and picking me up after class tomorrow.

This is the only hooking progress I've made.  I'm happy to finally have the background done.  Now it's on to the hit and miss border.  The picture may be a little blurry since I took it without a flash trying to get truer colors, but it is still too bright and the black is much blacker in person.

I hope everyone in the storm's path remains safe and warm.  Old man winter isn't done with us yet :(

Mindless Hooking ~

I like mindless hooking.  Backgrounds ~ I love working on them.  But enough already.  This rug has been nothing but mindless and I am anxious to be done with the background.

Then it will be on to the hit and miss border.  Not yet sure how wide that will be.  My little runner has been set aside for the time being.  Too many rugs . . . too little time . . . sigh.

Next week I have a three day hooking class.  Woo hoo.  I'm lovin' this retirement, being free to do things during the week.  The class is with Carol Weatherman of the Sampling.  I bought this pattern from her last fall thinking I would work on it during my Caroline Twigg class but decided to hook Ned instead.  I'm kind of sorry I chose such a large pattern ~ it's 29"x44".  At this point, I'm committed.

I went and picked all my daffodil buds.  I don't think they will survive the freeze that is coming.  It will be cheery in the house in a few days.

Slacker ~

Day 2 at class I was a real slacker.  I was lacking motivation . . . plus as much as I hate reverse hooking, I decided (along with Connie, Kaye, and others) that the leaves really needed to be changed.

I am happy I made the change.  Much better, no?

A few more loops were pulled since class ~ very few.  {I did get a bit more background hooked on my scrappy crosses rug.}

I only took a couple pictures of the work in progress.  Peggy was doing a wonderful job using a 6 cut.

I did not the name of the hooker, but look at this beauty.  This was being hooked in a 3 cut I believe.  I so admire the fine cuts, but it's not something I'm interested in doing.

Luscious wool swatches to choose from.

The class was also a "find and finish" class if you were struggling with a current project.  Kaye is one of the best primitive hookers.  Her color choices are to die for.  This picture is very washed out.  It is a pattern by Visions of Ewe.

Isn't it magnificent?  Kaye is hooking it in a 9.5.  These colors are more accurate.

Look at the finished dimensions.  WOWZA!

It looks like we are in for a hard freeze in a couple of days.  I don't think my poor daffodil buds will survive, but at least my livelihood doesn't depend on them.  There is a real danger to the fruit trees.  Being a farmer has to be so difficult.  Prayers for them.
