Detour ~

Just like Saundra blogged about here, I took a little hooking detour this weekend.  In May, the Western Reserve Guild is having their annual hook in and this year's theme is "the early bird gets the worm".  Members were asked to hook a small bird themed mat.  I've hooked this fat little bluebird in the past (I think it is a doodle by Tonya Robey), and decided to hook it again with a beaded edge.  It's a little bigger than it was supposed to be . . . is bigger better . . . ?  Hopefully I'll get back to my Maggie rug, but I did just order that sweet new heart pattern from Cathy over at Orange Sink.  Too many patterns . . . too little time.

Have you gotten the new wool samples from Betsy and Rebecca?  Oh, such wonderful wools.  I'm trying to be strong . . . sigh . . . but what fun is that?

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Pug hugs :)
Lauren

That is such a cute rug and I like how the edge was done.
I get the mailings but have never gotten the wools, usually I go to a shop in Ct. to get my new wools.

Such a sweet little bird mat Lauren! The colors are so pretty. I ordered Cathy's heart pattern too. It's wonderful! Yes, I got Rebecca's samples and will be ordering a couple new wools today. I don't need any but can't resist! Hugs, Lori

I see a lot of hookers have a pattern addiction and you're right about not enough time...
I love your little bird and Cathy's heart. That gal is so talented.

I managed to pull some hoop on my grandfather's rug. I wish the photo was in color as I'm having difficult time getting the shades just right.

If all else fails I'll get my husband George to pose like my grandfather so I can visualize the nuances of skin tone on the face.

Have a good week.
Hugs,
JB

What a cute little blue bird. I think I might do a little detour to hook that.
You are way ahead of time. :) It is true so many things to make and hook. My mind never stops. I do love wool, but I am trying to make it look like I don't have a problem. I wanted to order those wools so bad. :) Have a great week.

The beading adds a lot to this simple little design - I like it! So will the different bird rugs be voted on - or what? I got my wool mailer from Betsy - love the Muskett Mustard and I'm hoping my wool lady gets some of that in so I can buy it from her.

The little bird is adorable! I don't think it's fun to be good. Go for the wool. :D

I had a weak moment the other day and tried to order a bunch from Betsy but the online cart wouldn't work. Whew dodged that bullet!

Cute little birdie, how do you do that border with every other stitch?
Hope you and Ellie are keeping warm, and no more falls on the ice :)

Hi Lauren,
Your little birdie mat is just too "tweet!" Sometimes detours are good things!!! Those of us who love textiles just omit the words "too much" from our vocabulary!!!
Hope you are staying warm with all that wool!!
Warm Hugs~
